RATE OF PROGRESSION
The rate of progression is often measured in long-term monitoring studies to determine how fast a disease spreads over time.
This can be measured at a colony or population scale. Photo-image analysis is typically necessary to quantify the relative area of diseased tissue to health tissue.
This value can be calculated by dividing the surface area of disease cover by length of time since the last measurement. This value is critical for assessing how fast a disease will affect a colony or population of corals.
